Black History Month

  • Major Taylor Cycling Club of New Jersey gave a presentation about Major Taylor to kids at the Trenton Free Public Library on Feb. 26.

  • Metro Atlanta Cycling Club kicked off its Major Taylor Education Project, with presentations scheduled at Woodson Park Academy (Feb. 15), Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School (Feb. 22), Tri-Cities High School (Feb. 26), Dunbar Elementary School (March 1), and Maynard Jackson High School (March 6).   • Major Taylor Cycling Club Chicago shared Major Taylor's story at the BLK Bike Panel & Discussion on Feb. 23 at Experimental Station in Chicago. Video

  • The New York Times honored Major Taylor with an overdue obituary in its Overlooked series on Feb. 1.

  • Sports Illustrated featured Major Taylor on Feb. 12 in its Unsung Heroes video series for Black History Month.

  • The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission explored black migrations through the perspective of bicycle culture, starting with a short film about Major Taylor and a panel discussion (video) on Feb. 1.
