A metal worker at the foundry uses a die grinder to apply texture to the surface of the bronze relief where the pieces were welded together. This work, called chasing, recreates the sculptor’s clay tool marks. Then sandblasting with a fine glass bead mattes the surface and removes the oxidation (discoloring) caused by the welds and exposure to handling.
