world premiere by WPI Concert Band 
The WPI Concert Band's spring performance included the world premiere of "The Ride," a musical composition inspired by the story of 1899 world cycling champion Major Taylor.The piece was composed by Thomas O'Toole, director of performing arts for the Shrewsbury public schools. O'Toole conducted his work at the concert April 20, 2024, at the Worcester Area Mission Society. The band is directed by WPI Assistant Teaching Professor Mitchell Lutch.
